welcome to in a card's blog...

i know that "cute" is not a word typically used to describe good design, but in my world, it is. if it's your first reaction to say, "aww... how cute!" then it must be just that! "C-U-T-E." and i'm talking about so incredibly, ridiculously cute that the most masculine of men will even say those three words without thinking twice about it.

and so that is what i hope to share with you on my blog...

a combination of really unique ideas, simple thoughts that come randomly into my mind, along with "cute" designs that i've designed or come across.

support japan

my best girlfriend and favorite jeweler, april kawaoka, has created these amazing tribute pieces to support the relief efforts in japan from the march 2011 earthquake and tsunami disasters. half of the sales to these pieces will go to the american red cross to help aid japan.  visit her blog post for more information and details.

please visit april's Etsy shop, aprilkawaoka.etsy.com, to make your purchase and help support japan.

like i've said before, i believe that a kind heart will inspire many more.

my irena necklace

one of the perks of having a best girlfriend that's an artist & jeweler is being able to request almost any piece of custom jewelry that my heart desires.  or at least what the pockets can afford right now.

my most recent request???

an irena necklace with an "april kawaoka" touch, which she gave me as a gift for my 30th birthday.

carrie bradshaw had a "carrie necklace" on sex and the city but even hers wasn't as stylish as mine.

if you'd like to see more of what jewelry april currently has for sale, visit her Etsy site.

if you want to see other cool stuff that she's made, visit her website.

if you like my irena necklace and wish you had one for yourself, send her a convo through Etsy or email her at info@aprilkawaoka.com.

and if you're lucky, she may grant you your custom order request.

simply squared

one of the rings that you'll almost always see me wearing is this unique square ring that April Kawaoka from Etsy makes. what makes this ring so unique is the all around square shape.

it is also one of the most comfortable rings i own. many people have stopped to ask about it so i thought i'd write about it and let you know where you can purchase one for yourself.
