2nd annual LA renegade craft fair

i can't believe it's been over a month since my last blog entry promoting the renegade craft fair and now i'm about to share a few pics from the event. it's safe to say in between that time, i was prepping and working on new designs to debut at the craft fair. all new designs are now posted and available for purchase on my etsy shops, inacard.etsy.com and simplewear.etsy.com

this was my first time doing a craft fair and i couldn't have asked for a better one to start off with then the Renegade Craft Fair. such a wonderful experience and i can't wait to do it again! i'm so glad my friend Jen Hewett, of Jen Hewett Studios, asked me to join her to share a booth and honored that we were chosen as one of their selected vendors.

i've had this print of hers bookmarked in my favorites for over a year and now i finally have it!  i can't wait to get it framed and up in the bedroom.

LA renegade craft fair

only 1 month away!!!



i'll be participating in this years RENEGADE CRAFT FAIR, saturday, JULY 24th and sunday, JULY 25th at the Los Angeles State Historic Park (aka The Cornfield), from 11am - 7pm.

hey lady...

here is another custom baby shower invitation i recently did. it's a slight twist to the shower flowers design i did back in march.



i decided to go with more primary colors to suit the style of the mama-to-be a little better.



i also incorporated her favorite bug, a ladybug, which fit real nicely with the wording on the invitation.



i'm really lovin' this cute new little ladybug so it may appear on other stationery goods and possibly on a simplewear onesie.  so be on the look out...

jenny + peter : a perfect union

i believe wedding invitations help set the theme of your special day. whether you decide to go super formal or simply casual, your invitation is the first glimpse of what your guests will be expecting on your special day. and definitely something that reflects your sense of style.

as i was designing jenny & peter's wedding invitations, it was very clear that their wedding celebration will be a very formal and exquisite event. the use of creme paper stock with gold metallic paper and ink introduce the very upscale choice of their wedding colors and their choice to do a pocket envelope style invitation with a postcard reply card still give it a very modern feel.









doing a postcard style reply card means you also save a little on postage stamps. unfortunately, the only current $.28 postcard stamp available right now is an image of a polar bear.  now, little details like that mean the world to me.  so it was great to know my client felt the exact same way when we decided to go with the $.44 wedding ring stamps.

sometimes it's worth spending that little extra to make something look that much  better. 





the request to have an image of 2 rings intertwined made for a perfect monogram with jenny & peter's initials, which i think also symbolizes a great union of the two together.



the current $.61 wedding stamp also fit perfectly with the style and color of the wedding invitation.  i just love when things like that fit so perfectly together!

announcing the great moments of life

it truly is an honor to be a part of announcing such great moments in other people's lives. especially when you've never even met them! but somehow through email correspondences and sometimes phone calls, you connect and when you get the opportunity to meet them for the first time in person, a big hug takes place of the professional handshake.

jean contacted me via email while she was still pregnant and we discussed birth announcements for her soon to be baby girl. talk about well organized and prepared! i love it!!! well a month later her precious rebekah was born and we were all set to begin the design process. jean loved the announcements i had previously done for landon and the sukharev twins, so we kept that similar layout and feel. she even hired jovana, of j luna photography, to take rebekah's pictures.

a simplewear design fit for a designer

a teacher, a work colleague and a friend.

that is what jess, of tamayo+kubota design, has been to me for the last 10 years. i was lucky enough to have jess as one of my design professors at cal state long beach and even more fortunate to have stayed in touch with her and become work colleagues and great friends over the years since i graduated back in 2002.

as a fellow graphic designer, i wanted to create a custom simplewear onesie for her soon-to-be little girl that is as simple and clever as her mommy's design style. here is what i came up with...
